The book Russian Artists Abroad. 1970-2010s compiled by the art historian and critic Zinaida Starodubtseva is dedicated to the artistic life of Russian artists in Paris, New York, Tel Aviv, Berlin, and London. The publication includes interviews with 80 artists of several waves of emigration conducted by Starodubtseva as well as analytical articles by 40 international curators, gallerists, critics, and collectors who have exhibited, acquired, and studied Russian art in the past 50 years. The book touches upon such crucial issues as the integration of Russian art into the international context and its position on the global art scene, the search for identity of artists originating from the USSR and Russia, the artistic ties to the home country, the formation of a Russian diaspora infrastructure, and art education.
