Alexey Korsi: Born in 1986 in Moscow. Graduated from the Moscow Architectural Institute. Winner of the Innovation Prize (2020, “New Generation”). Lives and works in Moscow.
Artem Filatov: Born in 1991 in Nizhny Novgorod. Graduated from the Nizhny Novgorod State Linguistic University. Founder and head of the Tikhaya studio (Nizhny Novgorod). Two-time winner of the Innovation Prize (2018, “Regional Project”; 2020, “New Generation”). Lives and works in Nizhny Novgorod.
Name Garden
“Name Garden” (2019-∞) is a project by Alexey Korsi and Artem Filatov realised on the grounds of a private crematorium in Nizhny Novgorod. The artists turned the crematorium courtyard into a memorial complex: Filatov designed a garden and planted more than 120 species of plants, shrubs and trees, while Korsi created a sound installation based on the names of human internal organs pronounced in Latin. In support of the project, the site namegarden.ru was launched. Here, users can dedicate one of the garden’s plants to a deceased person. http://namegarden.ru/
Since 2019, the garden has been an open public space. The authors regularly conduct guided tours there, keeping awake a conscious attitude towards death and the accompanying industry.
