Edited by Evgenia Kikodze and Nadezhda Gutova
Grundrisse, Moscow, 2018

The volume edited by Evgenia Kikodze and Nadezhda Gutova is the first Russian-language publication of two texts by the artist and playwright Vladimir Slepian (1930-1998), a representative of Soviet unofficial art who left for France in 1958. The book includes the novella “Son of a Bitch” written from the perspective of a mad dog, which had been studied by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, and the manifesto “Transfinite Art”. The volume also contains accompanying articles by the art historian Eugenia Kikodze and by the curator and critic Jean-Pierre Salgas. An annex contains an abridged version of a talk given by the art historian Maria-Josep Balsach at a conference on Slepian along with vignettes by friends from the artist’s youth, Yuri Zlotnikov and Igor Shelkovsky.
