Mokhryakova Albina
Born in 1990 in Bratsk. Graduated from the Faculty of Philology at the Novosibirsk State University and from the Alexander Rodchenko Moscow School of Photography and Multimedia. Winner of the Kandinsky Prize (2019, “Young artist. Project of the Year”). Lives and works in Moscow.

Inspired by a YouTube video in which volunteers from Ural performed “the dance of death”, I recreated the rhythm of this military ritual saturated with scenes of suspense and alarm. In creating this video, I was questioning the legitimacy of compulsory military service through which the government forces young men to get involved in its military operations.
The video work was shown in 2019 aa part of the exhibition Artagon, Magasins généraux (Paris)
