Alexander Dashevskiy

dashevskyBorn in Leningrad in 1980, studied at the St. Petersburg University of Cinema and Television and the Repin St. Petersburg State Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. His works are held by museums and private collections in Russia, the United States, Germany, Britain, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Switzerland and Israel.

In his new project “Partial Losses / Temperate Positive Dynamics” Alexander Dashevskiy stays true to his chosen style — combining abstract and figurative painting. He refrains from complicated installations and objects. Instead he changes the painting itself into something like a minimalist sculpture. The ventilators, bomb shelters and mailboxes that he depicts are transformed into dissolving structures that possess volume, rhythm and a particular position in space. Only with the next glance at a picture-object do we see that it is full of scraps of information. The artist says “that it is a picture (picture of the world) at the moment of its deconstruction.”
