Andrey Kuzkin

Andrey Kuzkin was born in 1979 inMoscow.
He graduated the Moscow State University of Printing Arts (2001).
He has participated in the Berlin Biennale (2010) and over 30 group exhibitions in Russia.
In 2009 Kuzkin was awarded a special diploma by the Krasnoyarsk Biennale and became a laureate of the Innovation and Soratnik prizes.

Alone, or Secret Life

The artwork is a hollow metal cube measuring 2m x 2m x 2m. It is made of dark sheets of metal, and one face is missing; the cube stands on the floor like an upside-down box. Inside the cube is an audio system with several speakers and a player. Visitors hear the sound of steps, breathing, banging on the metallic walls of the cube, coughs, some imperceptible murmuring — all the noises a person existing in complete solitude might make. Visitors have the impression there is someone inside the cube…
