Pool.

A rectangular structure resembling a swimming pool filled with petroleum products, the installation embodies the contradictions uncovered by the artist in the relations between people and the environment. While it is
impossible to exhaustively study and comprehend nature, there are attempts at domesticating it. Even in discussions about ecology, nature is part of an anthropocentric worldview. The artist proposed another framework for
these relations, where nature is presumed to be unarticulatable and mysterious. The artist experiments with materials and their combinations to subject these substances to endless transformations and inject them
with ever changeable meanings. The focus is not on the beauty or richness of nature, but on mundane materials. Oil spills and forest fires are becoming an integral part of present-day nature. The installation was originally displayed in 2019 at solo show “Tar and Gnomes” at Futuro Gallery, and then updated for a group show “Nemoskva is just around the corner” in 2020 at the Manege Central Exhibition Hall in St. Petersburg
