Media Mytholgy is the collection of essays about common ground of Russian contemporary art and new media through innovative projects and through rich biography of one of the Russian media art pioneer’s, curator and researcher Alexei Isaev (1960 – 2006). History of Russian art scene formation from 90s till our days was published more than once in different editions, but relationships between сontemporary art and new media always overstepped the limits of conventional dates and names. Per se nobody attempted to gather chronology and segmental memories of members of an art proccess and to use this material as a basis to research the connection between contemporary art, cinema and virtual reality. Collection of essays and articles “Media Mytholody” by main characters of Russian media art scene, tries to fill gaps in contemporary art history. This book is the attempt to create the effect of “circles”, diverging from one central figure – theorist, artist and curator Alexei Isaev, whithout whom MediaArtLab and MediaForum – art institutions exploring new media, could never exist.
