The Kandinsky Prize announced the winners of the 2011 competitive year

The Kandinsky Prize international jury announced 3 winners in 3 nominations.
The winners were chosen from the nine finalists, whose works were on show among the 40 nominees during the exhibition in the Central House of Artists, in September-October 2011.

The winner of the award in the main category and the prize of € 40,000 was Yuri Albert. His work « Moscow Poll» – called the international jury of the “Project of the Year”. The award in the nomination “Young Artist. Project of the Year” and the prize of € 10,000 Polina Kanis got for her work « Eggs». Best media-art project – « Artists’ Private Collections» by Anastasia Ryabova.
Peter Greenaway, a well-known British director, who arrived in Moscow by a special invitation of the Kandinsky Prize, presented the prize to the winner in the main nomination. On the existing tradition Peter Greenaway delivered a short lecture on the impact of art and, in particular, painting on film, and showed a fragment from his newmulti-media installation “Leonardo’s Last Supper: A Vision by Peter Greenaway” (New York, 2010-2011).This unique Greenaway’s work combines a variety of visual languages – video, light, sound, visual projections, which enliven and make a new, fresh look at the masterpiece of the great Leonardo da Vinci.The installation is part of a series of multimedia projects – Nine Classic

Paintings Revisited – and is a sort of study of the artist – the search of a dialogue between classical painting and cinema.
Pavel Pepperstein and “Kach” presented an audio-visual performance. The ceremony was accompanied by the music of the group “Vezhlivy otkaz”
