Author researches the languages of Russian and Chinese narrative video art, their genesis in context of local art process, opportunities of this form to construct image of a subject.

It is analyze of narrative video art pieces created between 1980-s and 2012. The researcher concentrates her attention on media specificity of video art, theoretical knowledge, its critics and concrete artists. This ensured that the problem can be solved and reader can understand which type of cultural subjectivity narrative video art works with.
