The book «Russian Artists Abroad. 1970s-2010s» is dedicated to the artistic life of the Russian diaspora in the world’s cosmopolitan centers of contemporary art – Paris, New York, London, Berlin and Tel Aviv.

The book touches upon issues that are urgent for contemporary art – integration into international contemporary art and the position of contemporary Russian art on the world stage; search for the identity of the artist, a native from the USSR and Russia; the infrastructure of the Russian art abroad; professional ties with the homeland; issues of art education and others.

It includes texts by 40 authors from different countries, not only studies from internationally famous art historians (B. Altshuler, G. Ofrat), famous curators (A. Rosenfeld, E. Andreeva) to young researchers, graduates of the Sorbonne, but collected memories of persons who exhibited and wrote about contemporary Russian art abroad, as well as interviews with 80 artists from different directions of two waves of emigration (abstractionism, surrealism, kineticism, conceptualism, social art and others).

The collection ends with two appendices – brief information about the infrastructure (periodicals, galleries, centers, museums) and group exhibitions.
